Car Hire in France
As we are in such a rural location we do suggest you might want the flexibility of having access to a car – it’s not strictly necessary though. If hiring a car then booking in advance is highly advised as it is much cheaper. You can hire cars from Bergerac, Bordeaux and Toulouse airports and train stations.

Travelling from the UK by Car
A very economical way to travel is by car with friends, you can drive from various ferry ports in one day or make the journey part of a bigger holiday and take in another part of France on the way down.
There are ferry crossings from the UK to Calais, Saint- Malo, Le Havre, Cherbourg, Caen and Roscoff and there are numerous cheap ferry crossings and comparison sites such as www.ferrysavers.com
You can also travel over via the Eurotunnel, with up to 4 departures per hour, a crossing time of just 35 minutes and motorway to motorway access, this is a very straight forward journey with barely any traffic on the french side! Check www.eurotunnel.com for lots of tips and handy hints to make the journey as easy as possible.

Trains
SNCF is the french national train network, it’s a good service and very reasonably priced compared to UK trains so if you fancy recreating that InterRail experience and travelling lightly, grab your rucksack and jump on a train.
If you want to go back to basics then why not try a foot passenger experience on the ferry, then jump on the bus to Calais Gare (train station) and aboard the train to Paris and onto Bordeaux… Sophisticated 21st century travellers might prefer the Eurostar experience which now provides a service direct to Bordeaux (with time for lunch in Paris!) from £55 one-way.
Arrive | Depart | Time | Approx cost one way per person |
---|---|---|---|
London | Paris | 2h 30 | from £29 |
Paris | Bordeaux | 3h | from €19 |
Bordeaux | Marmande | 37 minutes | from €9.50 |
Marmande | Monteton | 25 minutes *by road | from €25 |
Total travel time from London : 6 hours 30 minutes! But you could have a night in Paris and a day in Bordeaux on your way 🙂
Tip Book ahead: Look at buying tickets as early as possible for best prices with SNCF.
Buses
Check out Eurolines and Flix eg. Paris to Bordeaux from €18.95 one-way

Camping
The best place to stay is on the festival site, there are unlimited camping spaces for tents but very limited space for campers and caravans, and electric hook ups for these so prior arrangement is needed. Please contact us at Soiree47@gmail.com
*Camping pitches have no electric hook up. Toilets and showers are available on site.
Arriving in the area earlier than Sunday 27th..? SOIRÉE47 will make you very welcome, you can come and set up camp from 3pm Friday 25th, just please let us know in advance.
Please remember; You will need to purchase a camping pass for every adult staying on site, whether in a tent, camper or caravan. Children camp for FREE!
There are of course various other campsites in the local area for you to choose from including;
- Duras, Le Cabri Duras (10kms)
- Allemans du Dropt (3.5kms),
- Levignac, Parc St Vincent (5kms)
- Eymet, Eymet Camping (15kms)
Camping not really your thing?…Then take a look at the other options available below.
Gites
Gites – or holiday homes are a very popular option in the area however at this time of year most take bookings for a week minimum so this could be the ideal option if you are thinking of combining festivalling and holidaying with the family or a group of friends! Lots of the local places are very quiet and quintessentially french with swimming pools, BBQ terraces set amongst fields of sunflowers and vines.
Usual changeover day in the area is Saturday. Try Booking.com, Tripadvisor, holidaycottagesandvillas.com, Gites of France.
Chambre d’hôtes and B&B’s
There are a wealth of places to stay locally on this website Chambre d’hôtes Duras and on Airbnb (this link is preset to Sat 26th August arrival near Monteton) where places don’t tend to have the same weekly booking restrictions and you could find yourselves lodging with a nice local French family.
Of course if you need any further help with any of this, just get in touch, we’ll be more than happy help you.
